In a radio interview in Vancouver, Canucks star goalie Roberto Luongo admitted that he thinks it is time to move on to a new team. He cited the Canucks recent signing of back-up goalie Cory Schneider to a $12-million 3-year contract as a sign that he is probably on his way out of Vancouver. Luongo has played for the last 6 seasons in Vancouver and has led the team to the playoffs in 5 of his seasons there. Despite criticism for not being able to lead the team to a Stanley Cup, Luongo has good numbers in both the regular season and playoffs with the Canucks. When asked during the radio interview whether Chicago would be a good fit, Luongo stated that he would be interested in playing for the Blackhawks.
