Nobody really knows how long the NHL lockout may last. Some players have already headed overseas to play in the KHL or the many Euro leagues. Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown is still here in LA getting himself prepared for another run at the Stanley Cup. I thought it would be cool to get a little video of Dustin’s workout today so that you could get an idea of how hard he is working to prepare for this season, whenever it may start. Keep in mind that this is just a 3 1/2 minute snippet of a 90-minute workout! This guy trains extremely hard and it is no surprise that many NHL players rank him as one of the hardest hitters in the game today. Combine that with the fact that he was co-leader (tied with teammate Anze Kopitar) for total points in last year’s playoff run. Talk about the complete package!
In this video you see Dustin doing:
1) 3D dumbbell sequence for 48 repetitions. He is using a 30-lb dumbbell in one hand and a 15-lb dumbbell in the other to create an assymmetrical load through his trunk.
2) Tire split squat jumps for 16 repetitions.
3) Tire hammers for 16 repetitions. The hammer weighs 12-lbs.
4) 3D balance hops in the direction that I call out for 45-seconds.
Dustin did 3 sets of this circuit with 2 minutes rest betwen each set. This was the last part of a 90-minute workout today.
Caution: Do not try this unless you are healthy and extremely fit!
